Maureen Steel made her first wedding cake for her own wedding celebration in 1996. "I'll be honest, I didn't want to settle for a grocery store cake. They were just not special enough for our big day, she explains". This endeavor brought curiosity and a new interest for mastering techniques in the world of cake design.

In November of 2001, Maureen began instructing cake decorating classes at the Layton, Utah Michaels craft store. "I enjoy meeting and teaching those who share the same budding passion. It's satisfying to see their creativity come to life in an edible art form, Maureen states."

Most recently, My Sweet Cakes is creating one of a kind confections for unique couples and celebrants alike. "Your wedding cake can reflect your personaltiy, theme, dress, colors, flowers or reception site. It takes an appreciation and patience to create an edible masterpiece. My goal is to provide clients with a delicious wide variety of modern tastes and designs."
